Festivals

Tshechus form an inseparable part of the festivals in Bhutan. Tshechu, literally meaning “the tenth day” of every month in the lunar calendar, is an important day to celebrate the birth of the great master Guru Rinpoche. During these festivals, dances are performed based on a Buddhist theme. Performed by monks and religious laymen, festivals are highly religious and have the power to grant good merit to the people who attend them.
